| Titernal is a new photocatalyst developed by Fushimi, Inc. of Japan, under the guidance of Murasawa Sadao (SHIGUNASU Enterprise, Inc.) Sadao is known as the pioneer of applied technology development of Titanium Oxide Photocatalysts. (Patent application number; 2002-211065, applicant; SHIGUNASU Enterprise, Inc. Fushimi, Inc.).
The active ingredient in Titernal is Titanium Oxide (TiO2), which has particles as small as 7/1,000,000mm. When exposed to light, TiO2 converts toxic substances in the air into water and carbon dioxide with its oxidative decomposition power. When it comes into contact with germs, it decomposes their cell membrane and kills them. Titernal is different from previous all-purpose photocatalyst treatments (which typically use inorganic binders) because it is specifically designed for use on textiles and interior goods.
The high performance of the Fushimi product is a result of special organic binders which perform without damaging the design and aesthetic appearance of the underlying textile. Fushimi has developed two types of Titernal, both of which incorporate the proprietary binder. Titernal W is a water based solution for use on fabrics, and Titernal E is ethanol based for use on interior goods. |
