SMART PROBE 2 WIFI Scope
The SMART PROBE 2 WIFI inspection scope helps you with verifying the end face surface quality for the fiber optic connectors in your network. The VUE3 inspection and reporting software is intuitive to use and will provide you with reliable and accurate measurements on the surface of the end face to the pass-fail criteria of IEC 61300-3-35 Ed 2.

The default password for connecting the SMART PROBE inspection scope to your device the first time is: 12345678.

The VUE3 inspection software will give an alert on the screen, “The number of defects is over the max value, please clear the fiber” when the end face either has severe level of contamination or exceedingly high number of surface defects.
Try cleaning and test the end face and retest. If the alert continues to come up, there is a strong possibility the connector end face has permanent damaged and would be need replacement.

The verify you have characters in the Cable SN: and the Connector ID: fields. Both fields need to be populated. This was done to help with you with keeping tracking of your end face images and test reports.

Here are few items to check and the solutions for identifying the cause and solving a connection problem.
- Look at the rear of the SMART PROBE 2 scope’s housing. The BLUE light below the GRAY power button that should be on. If the BLUE light is not on, the scope’s batteries may have been drained. Try recharging the scope for at least 10 minutes and then try powering up the scope again. There are three WHITE lights on the rear of the scope’s housing. These are you battery power indicator lights. If all three WHITE lights are on, you have a full charge. If the bottom light is on and flashing, the scope’s battery will need to be recharged.
- Check the scope’s WIFI radio to make sure it was not accidently turned off. You should see a GREEN light above a GRAY toggle switch. Make sure the toggle switch is in the UP position and the GREEN light is on.
- Go into your viewing device’s SETTINGS to verify it connected to the right WIFI network. Each SMART PROBE 2 scope has BLUE decal on the side of the housing. There will be SSID that begins with SP2 followed by a – 4 numbers – and 4 more numbers (i.e. SP2-1234-5678). The WIFI connection on the device should match the scope’s SSID number.

A fully charged battery will give at least 6 hours of continuous service. The charging time for 0% to full power will take < one hour. If the battery starts running low and you are not able to plug your scope into a wall charger, you are can use the charging cord to plug into a power bank just as you would with for recharging your cell phone.
